You do not need our permission. Deletion is a button in your account settings on the web, it takes effect immediately, and we never substitute deactivation or “freezing” for it. If you cannot sign in, use the email route in step 2 and we will do it for you.
Option 1 — Delete it yourself
Account deletion happens in the web dashboard. You can open it in any browser, on a computer or on your phone — you do not need the app installed:
The account and its data are removed at that moment. Any devices still running the app lose their licence and sign out on their next connection attempt.
If you sign in with a one-time email code and never set a password, use option 2 below — we will delete the account for you after confirming the email address.
Option 2 — Ask us to delete it
If you have lost access to your account, or you would rather not do it yourself, email privacy@proxytool.app from the address your account uses and write “delete my account”. No form, no phone call, no retention offer.
We confirm ownership of the address, delete the account, and reply to confirm. This happens within 30 days and usually within a few working days.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account, permanently:
- Your profile: email address, name, password hash and two-factor secrets
- All sign-in sessions and app tokens
- Licences and registered devices, including the hashed device identifiers
- Fleet records for devices you enrolled, and any fleet telemetry collected from them
- Diagnostic logs you sent to support
- Support tickets and their message history
- Referral records and any pending referral earnings
- Your proxy marketplace account reference and stored balance information
- Organisation memberships. If you are the sole owner of an organisation, the organisation, its groups and its policies go with it
Copies inside encrypted database backups are overwritten as those backups rotate, within 30 days at the latest.
What we have to keep, and why
One category survives deletion, and only because the law requires it:
- Invoices and accounting records — retained for 10 years under German commercial and tax law (§ 147 AO, § 257 HGB). They contain the billing details of past payments. They are locked to that purpose, are not linked back to a usable account, and are not used for marketing, analytics or profiling.
Your payment provider, Stripe, keeps its own transaction records under the same kind of obligation. That is Stripe's data as controller; see their privacy policy.
Deleting a single device instead
If you only want to free up a device slot rather than close your account, remove the device in Devices. The licence is released, the device stops being managed, and its fleet record and telemetry are removed with it. Your account stays as it is.
Cancelling versus deleting
Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are different things. Cancelling stops future charges and leaves your account intact. Deleting removes the account, and any active subscription is cancelled as part of it. Neither triggers a refund automatically — see the refund policy.
Something not working? If the deletion button fails or you get no reply within 30 days, write to privacy@proxytool.app. Full details of what we store and why are in the privacy policy.
